Skin advice from Dr. Elena Jones
Tips from an expert on how to keep your skin at its best
Now, if anyone deserves some pampering - it's us busy women! We deserve to treat ourselves to an at-home spa treatment that won't break the bank.
- Before going to bed, soften skin in the shower by washing with extra moisturizing and deliciously fragranced cocoa butter body wash. Next, generously apply a clinically proven moisturizer to hands and feet before putting on cotton socks and gloves. In the morning, you won't believe how smooth and supple your skin is.
- Household items that we take for granted can actually be the culprits in skin irritation and dryness. Try to avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets, and, if you can, use liquid detergent that is free of fragrance and dyes.
- Also, when it's time to tackle those chores, use "powder free" gloves to avoid skin irritation. Some powder-free, latex gloves are actually lined with aloe to keep hands soft while scrubbing away!
- Another easy way to keep skin moisturized is to slightly alter how you dry off after the shower. Instead of rubbing skin completely dry with a towel - gently pat dry, leaving skin slightly damp. Applying a clinically proven body lotion to damp skin will lock in additional moisture and keep skin extra hydrated.
- When it comes to soothing dry, irritated skin, try soaking in the bath until fingers and toes are wrinkly, which will take roughly 10-20 minutes. Keep the bath temperature warm, not hot. Overly hot water can actually zap skin of its much-needed moisture.
